Defence Research & Development Organisation – DRDO: Recruitment

The Defence Research and Development Organisation - https://www.drdo.gov.in/ is Indias premier agency under the Ministry of Defence, responsible for developing advanced military technology, weapons, and defence systems. DRDO conducts recruitment for scientists, engineers, technical officers, technicians, administrative staff, and apprentices through competitive exams.

DRDO Job Roles and Post Categories

1. Scientist Group A – Through GATE and DRDO Exam

• Disciplines:
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Physics and Chemistry
  • Aerospace Engineering

Job Role:
Research and development in missile systems, avionics, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, robotics, nuclear technology, and more.
 

2. Technical Officer - Senior Technical Assistant -B – Through DRDO CEPTAM Exam

• Eligibility: B.E., B.Tech or B.Sc. in relevant disciplines.
• Job Role: Support scientists in research, system design, and laboratory testing.

3. Technician A – Through DRDO CEPTAM

• Eligibility: ITI Certification in trades like Fitter, Electrician, Machinist, Electronics, etc.
• Job Role: Assist in assembling, repairing, and maintaining defence technology systems.

4. Admin and Allied - Clerk, Stenographer, MTS, Assistant

• Eligibility: 10th, 12th and Graduation as per post requirement.
• Job Role: Manage DRDOs administration, HR, accounts, and clerical work.

5. Apprentice and Internships

• Eligibility: Engineering, Diploma and ITI students.
• Job Role: Hands-on training in research labs.

DRDO Eligibility Criteria

• Nationality: Indian Citizen
• Age Limit:
  • Scientist: Max 28 years
  • STA-B & Technician: Max 30 years
  • Admin & MTS: Max 27 years
  • Age relaxation for SC, ST, OBC and PWD as per government rules.
• Educational Qualification:
  • Scientist: B.E. or B.Tech or M.Sc. with 60 percentage marks and Valid GATE Score.
  • STA-B: B.Sc. and Diploma in relevant fields.
  • Technician: ITI in relevant trade.
  • Administrative Posts: Graduate degree for clerk, finance, etc.

DRDO Exam Pattern and Selection Process

1. Scientist (DRDO Scientist ‘B’)

• Selection Through GATE Score OR DRDO Written Exam and Interview
• Subjects Covered:
  • Engineering or Science subjects based on discipline.

2. STA-B and Technician - DRDO CEPTAM Exam

• Stage 1: Tier-I Computer-Based Test - CBT
  • General Awareness
  • Reasoning Ability
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • Subject-Specific Knowledge
• Stage 2: Tier-II Trade or Skill Test for Technicians

3. Admin and Allied - Clerk, Assistant, Steno and MTS

• Tier-I:
  • General Awareness
  • English Language
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
• Tier-II:

  • Typing, Skill Test.
