Bosco Reach Out Career Guidance and Job Placement Services, based in Guwahati, organized a focused career guidance session at Don Bosco High School in Amguri, Assam. The primary objective was to support Class 10 students in making informed decisions about their academic futures. In an environment where students are often overwhelmed by choices, this initiative provided much-needed clarity and direction. The program was well received by both students and faculty, offering a platform for young learners to gain insights into career planning.
The event was coordinated by Rev. Fr. Ignatius Garo SDB, Associate Director of Bosco Reach Out, whose leadership ensured the smooth and impactful execution of the program. His presence highlighted the organizations dedication to empowering youth through timely and accessible guidance. The school administration actively collaborated with the team, recognizing the long-term benefits such a session could have on students academic and career aspirations.
The keynote session was delivered by Rev. Fr. Gabriel Karunaraj SDB, National Director of the Don Bosco Job Placement Network. Addressing an audience of around 200 Class 10 students, he spoke extensively about choosing the right streams after school—be it Science, Commerce, Humanities, or vocational paths. He also provided practical advice on preparing for competitive entrance exams, securing scholarships, and exploring public service careers such as UPSC. His clear and motivating delivery helped demystify the often daunting process of higher education and career planning.
The session saw enthusiastic participation from students, who expressed how informative and inspiring they found the talk. One student, Priya Das, shared, “Before this session, I was unsure of what to pursue after Class 10. Fr. Gabriels talk helped me understand the value of aligning my interests with my career. I now feel confident about choosing the commerce stream and exploring government job exams.” Another student, Anjan Boro, added, “The session opened my eyes to so many options. I did not know about scholarships and vocational training. I am now planning to prepare for polytechnic entrance exams while also aiming for a scholarship.”
Overall, the career guidance program proved to be a valuable experience for the students of Don Bosco High School, Amguri. By equipping them with essential knowledge and boosting their confidence, Bosco Reach Out reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing the potential of youth. Programs like these are essential in rural and semi-urban areas, where access to structured career counseling remains limited. The success of this event stands as a testament to the power of early intervention in shaping brighter futures.
