The Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare (ADTW) Department, Tamil Nadu, in collaboration with Don Bosco Vazhikaatti, organized En Kalloori Kanvu—a Career Guidance Programme at Government Engineering College, Tirunelveli. The event saw the participation of 449 students and their parents, specifically designed to benefit students from SC and ST communities.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Sukumar, I.A.S., District Collector, Tirunelveli, alongside Mr. Chinnaraju, CEO, Tirunelveli. In his address, Dr. Sukumar emphasized the importance of such initiatives and extended his gratitude to the ADTW Department and Don Bosco Vazhikaatti for their efforts.
The event was coordinated by Mr. Anbalagan, DADWO and Deputy Collector of Tirunelveli. Mr. Harish from the Don Bosco team guided students in making informed decisions about their higher education. He explained various post-12th options, including Diploma and Degree courses common to all streams, as well as courses in Arts, Science, Engineering, Medicine, and other Professional fields. His presentation included both slides and interactive discussions. Additionally, he provided insights into courses and career opportunities in the Defence Academy, explaining the various courses available for students aspiring to join the armed forces. He also introduced students to preparation strategies for competitive examinations such as TNPSC, UPSC, SSC, IBPS, SEBI, and other exams. All queries from students and parents regarding courses and admissions were answered and clarified.
To energize and engage the students, Mr. Adal Arasu, Model School Trainer, conducted an ice-breaking session with folk and gana songs, ensuring an interactive and lively atmosphere throughout the day.
As a token of encouragement, the ADTW Department provided students with a Welcome Kit, including a diary and a file.
