Out of the total job opportunities provided through Don Bosco Job Placement Network 42% women have entered the labour market with formal jobs, adequate wages, safer and secure working conditions. Don Bosco Job placement network since its inception is trying to bridge the gender gap in the labour force participation. Around the world, finding a job is much tougher for women than it is for men. When women are employed, they tend to work in low-quality jobs in vulnerable condition. They are less likely to work in formal employment and have fewer opportunities for business expansion or career progression. When women do work, they earn less. Emerging evidence from recent household survey data suggests that these gender gaps are heightened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to ILO study the current labour force participation rate for women is just under 47%. For men, it is 72%. With some region facing a gap of more than 50%. When coming to India the women participation in the labour force is only 19.2% and men in labour force is 70.1% (Ref: Gender gap in employment: What is holding woman back? ILO report www.ilo.org). Don Bosco Job placement network made its priorities to bridge the gender gap in the labour force participation keeping to the priorities of the global goals . Looking back its initiatives we are proud to say that 47% of the onboarded job seekers are women between the age group from 18 - 30 years. These women are mostly from socially backward communities residing either in a rural or semi- urban background. They are in one way or another skilled, semi- skilled or unskilled. Our training and continuous assistance has made them to participate in the labour force with confidence.
