CLAT EXAMS

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level entrance examination conducted for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programs in India. CLAT scores are accepted by various prestigious National Law Universities (NLUs) and other law colleges across the country.

CLAT is conducted for admission to undergraduate (5-year integrated BA LLB) and postgraduate (LLM) law programs in NLUs and other participating institutions.

Frequency: CLAT is usually held once a year.

Eligibility: For undergraduate programs, candidates should have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum percentage (usually 45-50%) as specified by the participating NLUs.
For postgraduate programs, candidates should have completed their LLB or equivalent degree.

Examination Pattern:

CLAT consists of objective-type questions, including multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and comprehension-based questions.
The paper covers topics like English, General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, and Elementary Mathematics (for the undergraduate program).
The duration of the CLAT examination is 2 hours for the undergraduate program and 2 hours for the postgraduate program.

Scoring and Ranking:

CLAT scores are used to determine the All India Rank (AIR) of candidates.The rank is crucial for admission to NLUs and other law colleges.

Admission Process: NLUs conduct centralized counseling processes based on CLAT ranks.Candidates can choose their preferred NLU and program during the counseling rounds.

Prominent Law Colleges That Accept CLAT Scores:

National Law Universities (NLUs):
NLUs are among the top law schools in India and offer 5-year integrated BA LLB programs. Some well-known NLUs include NLSIU Bangalore, NALSAR Hyderabad, NLU Delhi, and NLU Mumbai, among others.

Other Premier Law Colleges:

Apart from NLUs, several other prestigious law colleges and universities across India accept CLAT scores. Some examples include Symbiosis Law School (Pune and Noida), Jindal Global Law School (Sonipat), and National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) University (Hyderabad).

State Law Universities:

Many state law universities and colleges in India also accept CLAT scores for admission to their law programs.

Private Law Colleges:

Some private law colleges, like Christ University School of Law (Bengaluru) and Amity Law School (Noida), accept CLAT scores for admission.
